The future of the world

In tomorrow’s world, there will be changes that are truly mesmerising and jaw-dropping and each of us will be virtually transformed and shipped into a whole new area that is so different and atypical to our present lifestyle. The changes may come in various shapes and sizes, but it remains to be seen whether there are for the better or worse. Of course, it is everyone’s hope and aspiration that these irrefutable revolution and transformation will make our lives better in every aspect but if current record and situations are to be any indications, we will be in for a rough and bumpy journey ahead. From the environment perspective, global warming will show its true colour at an increasingly faster rate than initially expected if we continue to ignore the absolute importance of resolving the long standing quandary at its very root causes. The consequences of our ignorance and lackadaisical attitude towards this predicament are already well known by many but still, we have not reached that level where each and every individual living on earth actually shows true commitment and passion in nipping the problem in the bud. When ignorance sets in, we will be blinded with the contentment of life at present. We will not be able to look far in the future and we feel contented with our present way of life and do nothing to correct the wrongs and save the future of the world. What will the future generations think of us when they suffer the full effects of this crisis in their lives? The biggest problem in the world could be solved when it was small with the right determination and mindset. The same goes to the other major issues affecting the world as well like the infamous and continuing wars and conflicts, nuclear and terrorist threats, food and water shortages, deadly and infectious diseases such as the bird flu, economic downturns which will cause inflation, natural calamities caused by other phenomenons and the list will go on endlessly. As humans, we will face great hurdles and challenges as we go through our life. We live as one and all of us share the same home, that is earth and we carry the ultimate responsibility to cure it from all the sicknesses portrayed above. These are just a tiny fraction of some of the many concerns that really need our utmost and undying attention to make this world a better place for all of us to live together as one. While most of us are filled with enthusiasm what the world will hold for us next, the best way is still to work and work hard towards creating and achieving all the dreams and desires. The best way to predict the future is to create it. Compassion, understanding and empathy are very much needed in our world today. There is no other way other than working together unconditionally and wholeheartedly as one race and identity as the human race. What the world will be like tomorrow wholly depends on us. We have the power to either destroy it or make it better. As humans, we have our own strengths and weaknesses. A wise person will use his or her strength to the fullest to help, motivate and inspire others to achieve what is right for them and find their voice and true visions in life. The world lays out the path for us and works as the platform for us to help others in need and seek peace and prosperity. We are born to help others and bring them joy, hope and fulfillment. One undeniable aspect that will occur in tomorrow’s world will be the rapid development and modernisation. Technology will cultivate and develop at a rate that has never been seen before and utterly leaves us flabbergasted. We may soon find ourselves enjoying the luxury of travelling airborne inside our cars at an incredible speed and handphones will be historic with the widespread use of sophisticated multi-functional watches that can give you any information at the press of a button. Time travel may be possible and we may be mingling with the Neanderthals or even running away from T-Rex or the mammoth. I also do not rule out the possibilities of mankind setting foot on Saturn or even Pluto or building a gargantuan colony on Mars. Science will play a pivotal role in the future in shaping the right conditions for us to live comfortably. The million dollar question is how all these scientific successes will benefit mankind when we cannot even settle problems back home and work together to find solutions to these dilemmas as mentioned above? Advancement comes with a price and sometimes, it will be a heavy one too. As society embraces science and technology, everyone will be ultimately bitten by the technology bug and the social and moral values will soon decay and eventually wiped out from the norm of mankind. There is no need to look far beyond the future as this occurrence is happening right here and now. I always like to emphasise the underlying need to resolve the key concerns affecting the world as long as we live to create a better prospect not only for ourselves but for the generations to come. As Gaylord Nelson put it, ‘The ultimate test of man’s conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for the future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard’. There has been too much focus on the bright side of the world in the future without actually taking remedies to heal the current maladies. I strongly and fervently believe the power of the people on earth to stand up together and show the strength, fervor, eagerness and determination to bring changes for the better and eventually opening a whole new chapter for mankind that is based on the spirit of unity, togetherness and harmony. The earth is very much like our own body system. To function properly and effectively, it needs all the cells, tissues, organs and systems to work together. Even if one part of it breaks down, then the whole body will be affected. We are all in the same boat and when there is a hole in one part of the boat, then all of us will sink together. This aptly applies to the situation in our world today. To keep the world alive and running, all countries, people and other inhabitants need to work hand in hand without prejudice and insularity. To put two and two together, we must truly and always remember that we belong to one big family and we are all inhabitants on this wonderful earth. At this point in time, what really matters is the need to come together and pledge our dedication and love for the world. We belong to the most important race that is the human race. My aspiration for tomorrow’s world is to create a loving and caring society that consists of compassionate, benevolent, tolerance and kind-hearted people that will chart a new course for the world. Each and everyone of us carries an extremely heavy responsibility to make tomorrow’s world a better place for all and to ensure a prosperous and harmonious society.
